3 Admonitions to Believers in Jesus

Updated: Jun 28, 2022

Admonition #1: Never say you can't do something pertaining to God's will when the Word of God says you can do it in right standing with God through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

--Philippians 4:13 ESV

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father."

--John 14:12 ESV

"Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay." --Matthew 10:8 ESV

Admonition #2: Let no believer in Jesus accuse another believer of arrogance for believing the promises of the Word of God (1).

"His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire." --2 Peter 1:4 ESV

"For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. 21 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, 22 and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee."

--2 Corinthians 1:20-22 ESV

"But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word." --Isaiah 66:2b ESV

"And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him." --Hebrews 11:6 ESV

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

--James 1:5-8 ESV

Admonition #3: Let no believer in Jesus call Jesus a liar by inferring that He didn't mean what He said, or that some of his commandments and the acts of the Holy Spirit are no longer applicable today.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

--2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” --Hebrews 13:8 ESV

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.’” --Mark 16:17-18 ESV

“My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.” --1 John 2:1-6

“teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”

--Matthew 28:20

“And Peter said to them, ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.’”

--Acts 2:38-39 ESV

(1) For if a professing believer in Jesus, ironically, doesn't believe Jesus’ words in some area, then we are not living in light of our identity as believers in Jesus Christ. After our doubt or unbelief is exposed by the Holy Spirit, we must then repent and believe the Word of God once more. Thus, faith and repentance is a daily or continual process.
